The font evolved from the lettering used for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Baily Circus logo is Modesto developed by Jim Parkinson. See the original post here. Congratulations to MikeRDzign for naming it!

Modesto can be purchased from MyFonts. From Parkinson’s site:
Modesto is based on a signpainters lettering style popular in the late-19th and early-20th centuries. It evolved from the lettering I used for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Baily Circus Logo.
From MyFonts:
Modesto is based on a hand-lettering style that Parkinson often used in the ’60s and ’70s for ads, book covers and posters.“It was my fall-back position, hand-lettering-wise. It was easy and readily accepted,” says Parkinson. Eventually, it became the Ringling Bros logo, which, in turn, became the Modesto type family. Its classic forms and small serifs recall Goudy’s Copperplate Gothic, although it’s more fancy in its details. Modesto Text has an idiosyncratic lowercase alphabet, the Initials font has a gorgeous outline and the Open Caps have distinctive inlines.
Deborah at Life without Novacaine tagged me. Apparently, I have to answer six boring, yet quirky details about myself. For the complete rules on “tagging”, this new sport among the bloggers, check here.
1) I love my dog more than life itself. He’s a rescue that happened into my life by chance. It had to be designed, though, that this large, pure breed Golden Retriever that was abandoned and roaming the rough streets of Encanto wound up in my life. I could spend hours at my computer and never get up. If it weren’t for him, I might never get up at all. He is pretty adamant about getting out for a walk every few hours. We are both very lucky.
2) I think pie is just about the best food around. Specifically a deep dish apple pie.
3) I despise whipped cream and frosting.
4) I am truly an optimist; but, I’m also pretty crabby when things aren’t going smoothly. So, I’m crabby most of the time.
5) I make my own limoncello.
6) I secretly want to get back in the shape I was about seven years ago. But, due to number two above, that seems like it will remain a distant memory.
Sorry Deborah, but I can’t tag anyone but you as you are the only other blogger I know…
My business partner, and artist, Deborah celebrated the showing of her new series of fine art paintings at a reception we held last weekend. We were fortunate enough to celebrate and spend time with her family, friends and fans at The Mission (a client of mine), where we threw the soirée. It seems to have been a huge success for her, as she sold about half of the series on that one night. Way to go, partner!

Here is the last label in the series I did in conjunction with my design partner. This was indeed a challenge, especially making time for it every day. Thanks, D, for the challenge and for your inspiration. This one is for you. Happy Birthday!
